The Portland City Council gave its OK Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, to the master plan redesigning Midland and Mill parks and creating a new one at SE 150th Avenue and Division Street. Although this is a big step, one supported by key Commissioners Dan Saltzman and Amanda Fritz, there’s an even bigger obstacle up ahead: securing funding for the projects.

Community members in East Portland have been a crucial part of this effort and will be as important in the next stages to get these parks built and ready for use.

Like many parks, all of the three proposals include areas for play and contemplation. At Mill and the 150th park, there’s an additional perk: community garden plots. Among features at Midland is a focus on nature.
