COVID-19 Support to Community and Businesses
We partnered with different City of Portland Bureaus, Oregon Heath Authority, Prosper Portland, and local organizations to create a support network and resources for the community. A total of 622 community members were supported with direct financial assistance and PPE supplies. We also provided resources to 49 businesses in our district.
- COVID-19 Household Assistance Program (CVHAP) - DMA enrolled 250 community members in this program.
- Small Business Resource Fund - 43 businesses were granted with DMA block grant award
- Fallsgiving Event - DMA held 5 Fallsgiving events to provide financial assistance and PPE supplies to 322 community members. This event was supported with the funds and resources from the Oregon Health Authority and the City of Portland emergency coordination team.
- Utility Assistance- 45 community members and 6 businesses received assistance paying their utility bills.
- Health and Safety Information Session- DMA and TORUS jointly organized Health and Safety information sessions in Arabic and Karen languages. The session was led by community health workers.
DMA Regular Programs
- Youth Environment Leadership Program (YELP) - 22 youth successfully completed the Youth Environment Leadership Program (YELP). DMA collaborated with the Bureau of Environment Services.
- Information session on Permit Procedures: DMA in collaboration with the Bureau of Development Services (BDS) organized an information session on permitting processes and other programs at BDS.
- Reimagining Safety Project - DMA conducted the survey with 50 community members and conducted 2 focus groups in collaboration with TRIMET.
- Go By Greens- DMA collaborated with the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) and recruited 25 community members to participate in the game. The goal was to encourage people to walk, scoot, and bike on the recently completed 130th Neighborhood Greenway.
- Census 101: DMA reached 271 households to inform them about the census. We also conducted Census 101 information sessions in 3 different languages for cultural-specific groups.
- Community Dialogue on Displacement, Relocation, and Placemaking: DMA partnered with East Portland Action Plan, Bureau of Housing, and Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and conducted a dialogue with 15 community members on the issues of displacement that East Portlanders are facing.
- Storefront Grant: DMA awarded storefront grant to 4 DMA district businesses.
- Business outreach and PPE supplies: DMA outreached to 97 businesses with information about the COVID grant and resources. PPE safety information flyers were distributed to 46 businesses and connected 31 businesses to receive PPE supplies box to Prosper Portland.
- Cultural Liasion Support Program: DMA Culturally Specific Liaisons helped community members needing a variety of services such as navigating resources and information. We reached and supported 511 community members.
