Local Business Highlight
Casa Del Sol
14324 SE Division St.,
Portland, OR 97236
Santiago is a proud owner of Casa Del Sol and he thinks the storefront grant has been very helpful to improve the structure of his restaurant and enhance its visibility. He is one of the storefront grant recipients. His improvement project consisted of a new main pole sign with LED Lights and security light installed, a new box sign installed on the roof, fencing around the business and a garbage disposal area along with a gate. He invites you all to enjoy the delicious food his restaurant offers, He says, "As you may know, the weather is warming up, come and enjoy a margarita with us! Hate, Housing, and the Landscape of our City
Participants will understand and acknowledge our shared history; embrace our common values as neighbors and gain knowledge about our rights and responsibilities in housing. From racial exclusion laws in Oregon's constitution and racially exclusionary housing practices such as "redlining" and restrictive deed covenants to continuing involuntary economic displacement from neighborhoods, we must learn and acknowledge the history of racial discrimination, segregation and displacement to understand the different experiences of and disparate outcomes for our most vulnerable community members. Our history consciously intended to divide us by race and class. We must find our way forward to more open and inclusive communities in a way that unites us.
