DMA hires outreach coordinator

   DMA is happy to announce that Paulmang Pau Gualnam is joining our team as the Community Outreach Coordinator. Paulmang will be tasked with helping district residents engage in DMA programming as well as linking them to available community resources.

Bad Boy Auto getting a facelift
Bad Boy Auto (left) is the first Division-Midway business to receive a Storefront Improvement Grant this cycle. Owners Randy and Maureen Emery plan to repaint the building at 13635 SE Division, and replace the sign and awning by the end of July. More grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis for projects that enhance the appearance of your district business.  Read more about the Storefront Grant Program

open house focuses on Division


   TriMet invites residents to join project staff Thursday, June 29, for updates on the project design and progress on Division Transit Project, which greatly will affect businesses and residents in outer Southeast Portland.
   Also, the Portland Bureau of Transportation will present safety improvement ideas at the event 5-7:30 p.m. at PCC Southeast – Community Hall Annex, 2305 SE 82nd Ave.

Thursday, June 8 @ 6-7:30 pm at Gilbert Heights Elementary School Multicultural Nite – 12839 SE Holgate  – Join Gilbert Height’s SUN program in celebrating the many cultures attending Gilbert Heights Elementary School with dance and music.  

Saturday, June 10 @ 10 a.m.  at Bridge City Tap Room, Financial Development Committee – 620 SE 122nd Avenue – Join DMA’s Financial Development Committee as they work together to keep DMA funded.  

Tuesday, June 13 @ 12 noon at Pizza Baron - 2604 SE 122nd Avenue – Join Midway Business Association at its annual membership meeting and for free pizza at Pizza Baron.

Thursday, June 29 @ 5:30 pm, DMA Board Meeting at 11721 SE Division – This month, DMA’s board will meet on the 5th Thursday instead of the usual 4th Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm.

Thursday, June 29 @ 5-7:30 pm TriMet/PBOT Division Transit Project & Outer Division Safety Project Open House at PSU SE Campus – 82nd & SE Division – Learn about the Division Transit & Outer Divisoin Safety Projects; speak with TriMet and PBOT officials about your desires and concerns for the area. 

Every Wednesday, 9 am to 1 pm - PSU Business Outreach Office Hours @ DMA's office – 11721 SE Division Street - PSU offers FREE Professional business technical assistance every Wednesday between 9 and 1 pm.  

Every Wednesday & Thursday, 4-7 pm – Myanmar Community Office Hours at DMA's office – DMA hosts Community Office Hours every Wednesday and Thursday.

Every Friday, 3 pm to 7 pm & Saturday, 10 am to 1 pm – Iraqi Society of Oregon’s Community Hours – DMA hosts Community Office Hours for the Iraqi Community every Fridays and Saturdays.

Tips for handling issues tied to homelessness

       Homelessness is a serious issue in our community: residents and business owners must handle the fallout of homeless living in the neighborhood. The Office of Neighborhood Involvement recently offered a training to East Portland business leaders about dealing with the homeless population.  Sgt. Randy Tieg from the Neighborhood Response Team shared resources and tools for business owners and residents to use. (See Tips)
